All I want for Christmas is...

www.pretaportobello.com

This is what I've been up to!

Going to BIA/POW! with Heather

Shopping in Camden with Steph

filming a Kodak ad in Brighton with Dave, Steph and John

Attending Ida Maria gig at the Waterfront with Mr.Joy

Walking to uni waaaay to little (as I took too many "personal days")

Sorry....

I haven't posted a blog in aaages. I feel guilty because I've really wanted to sit down and write but I just haven't put aside time to do it. Well, now my 3rd semester is over and I'm home in Norway again on christmas vacation. It's wonderful to be back after a surprisingly good but very hectic semester!

Although I haven't been updating my own blog I have actually continued to feed my addiction to following other blogs. If you have your own, please hand me a link as soon as possible:D

Anyway, I will try (for the second time) to get a grip and write more often. Merry Christmas xxx

Godspeed You! Black Emperor

Fantastic music. Balsam for your soul! If you like Explosions in the sky and Sigur Ros you will definitely like Godspeed You! Black Emperor

Norwegian style

Im so tired of reading about how badly we Norwegians dress. I dont agree at all! First of all we dont have one typical style, but a mixture of diversity! I love that I feel free to wear whatever I want without feeling like I go outside the norm. I guess there's always going to be people complaining no matter what... get a life

Is it too late to update?

Here's my lousy excuse... I haven't been able to publish much in the blog because I forgot my camera in England when I was back in Norwich for my exam in mid August. I could probably borrow one, but Im too lazy these days. I've got less than a month left of my summer holiday so I'm trying to relax and not stress.
I'm flying back to Norwich again on thursday though. Need to settle into my new house. Whoho!:D

I'm shivering
but on the inside
how long
will I keep this appearance?

clouds on my eyes
clouds on my mind
invisible scar
..that will always remain...
impossible to explain...

the darkness
boiling deep below
unpredictable to me
invisible to you

it's taking over
I'm loosing control

This is a photo of my friend Gabby. She is a natural beauty, but that doesnt always mean it transelate to photos. In this case it def does. I also really like the colour shades and the wallpaper in the background, it really reflects her eyes.

What life throws back at you...

Sometimes it's very difficult to accept changes, especially if it means that you have to step out of your secure bubble and into the real world. At the same time you will never experience anything new if you always play it safe.

I've already stepped out of the bubble in many ways, and I def feel like I am out of my security zone. I've moved to another country, started a new course, taken up a huuuuuge loan, I've done this all by myself. Maybe being so far out of what feels safe and being able to control certain changes myself actually makes me more vulnerable when it comes to changes I cant affect.

When you're young and everyone chases their own dreams it's easy to loose contact with friends. Sadly I'm experiencing benefits and down sides of that. On one side I've made loads of new friends and connected even stronger with some of my old friends by being away from them over longer periods, on the other side I feel like I'm loosing some of my old friends. Not because we dont like eachother or we've had a fight. We've grown apart, and theres no foundation for a close friendship anymore. It is really sad. It feels like someone died, and I have to take time to mourn the loss...

Julius Caesar collection at Oslo Fashion Week

A friend of mine from high school had a fashion show at Oslo Fashion Week today. Obviously I'm proud of just knowing who he is:P Anyway, he's had fashion shows before but this one was his first at OFW. Check out the pictures from the show in the link.

Scandinavian design!

I haven't found a lot of good Scandinavian designers I've liked so far, but Maggie Wonkas dresses have caught my eyes more than once. I've often seen them in magazines and they are very cute and summerish. Suits the bohemian style perfectly! I couldn't download the pictures of their latest collection, but check out the website!

I'm in a New York state of miiiind

I'm not really a big Billy Joel fan (neither do I dislike him) but I looove NEW YORK! I've only been there once before, and I think it's time we met again! The city and I that is...
My mother's been talking about celebrating christmas there, since my dad wont be home this year. And our aunt lives in New Jersey, so that would be pretty perfect. But my mum is all about talking sometimes, and I'm not really sure it's gonna happen (she promised me a dog when I was 8 and theres still no sight of him). I have a backup plan though! My brothers moving to New York in january 09 to study journalism and photography, and I'm gonna come and visit him. Wether he likes it or not! I'm in a New York state of miiiiiiiiind<3

Photographer Matt Joy

My good friend Matty is an up and coming photographer. I've used several of his pictures as favourite pictures of the day in this blog and there is a lot more where that came from. He went to the same uni as me last year, studying film. And is enrolled at Norwich Scool of Art this year doing what he does best, photography! He's done some great shots of models, but as a result of bringing his camera everywhere he also has a lot of other great photos. Check out his myspace website for more info.

Poor Sienna?

Right from the beginning I've always loved Sienna's laidback attitude and style. But lately it might seem as she's been too reckless. Most people can understand that a woman in her 20s flirt around, but when it comes to married men (with children!) things are a bit different, and you suddenly find yourself in a big danger zone!
I really don't want to judge her too quickly like most of the media has done, but I do think she's gone over her head on this one. BUT, it seems like most people who write about this put the blame on Ms Miller. Obviously she's not innocent here, but it was in fact Getty, THE GUY, who cheated, and not Sienna. He was the one who was married and broke his promises. I am soooo sick over women being blamed for everything, the men always get away with it! Women always bitch about eachother and fight over men, while the guy sit back and enjoy it. In most cases it is actually the cheating part who is to blame for it, and this one is not an exception!

I love this picture of Marilyn Monroe. It's sexy moviestar meets normal woman with cellulite!
I have to admit, I find most pics with cellulites disgusting, but this one is gorgeous!

Some "must have" you do not need

According to Norwegian ELLE this is the 10 "must haves" this autumn.

1. Little black dress (already have at least 10)
2. Leather pants (no thanks, I dont drive an mc nor am I a gay man)
3. A white shirt (again, basic!)
4. Power suit (I'm a student, most people at my uni wear sweatpants, I feel overdressed wearing jeans)
5. Web knit (my grandma can have her style all to herself)
6. A 70s dress (bought one two years ago!)
7. Wide smart pants (thats for fat lawyers)
8. Androgyn jacket (it will make you look powerful, but it's too mafia for me)
9. Laces (dont live in hookerville)
10. XL jewellry (hmm... will think about it)

Is this a list they threw together after studying the catwalk fashion? DO NOT follow fashion religiously!

Band t-shirts online!

I found this website where you can buy band t-shirts and other stash from your fav band. It's got a wide selection of bands and accessories and is worth checking out.

Housewife for a day or so...

Its quite obvious that I'll never ever be a stay at home mum. I've never enjoyed cleaning or cooking. And I dont really like children... but thats another issue. Every other year I do enjoy a bit of cooking and baking though. I spend the weekend with Marit Elise in my grandparents old house. She is going to be the perfect housewife one day. She can cook, bake, clean... AND she enjoys it! Anyway, it rubbed off on me, but only for a couple of hours. On the bright side my fridge is packed with homemade bluberry jam and its probably gonna be another 2 years before I become a temporary housewife again.

Did I ever tell you...

that I get easily annoyed????????!!!!! I am revising for my DIDS exam up in my mums office, and my dad is right outside the window building something on the veranda. ARGHGHGFHLDFGJDFOHGFDRGJBJKRGFO)BK

Gorgeous English indie rose

Daisy Lowe is one of many examples of how well dressed young people in England can be. She's what people refer to as an "it-girl". With a designer mum and a rock star dad she was born into the celebrity world. There is something with that girl that keeps me facinated and intrigued! With other girl as the Geldof sisters, Agyness Deyn and Alexa Chung, she is creating a whole new Primerose Hill gang in London. I <3>

Patti Smith at Molde Jazzfestival

I drove to Molde yesterday to attend the jazzfestival with my cousin who lives there and to see Patti Smith for the first time!!!! I've been a fan for years and I have all the albums, but it's still a nervewracking feeling to see an artist you really admire for the first time. They usually either disappoint you or make you fall in love with their music all over again! This time its was certainly love! Not only for her music but also her character. She is passionate about her music and she is passionate about the message shes sending out through her lyrics. If possible I respect the woman even more!

Ebay = treasure heaven

I try to keep myself away from ebay as much as possible as I know that everytime I log in I'll find more than 1 thing I just NEED!

Last night I bought two fab vintage dresses ( as seen in the pictures) and one vintage joy division t-shirt:D
I just discovered that "it-girl" Peaches Geldof is selling some of her dresses online atm, so if you're a size 8 with excellent taste, check it out!
I'd also advise you to go into http://www.ebay.co.uk/ Thats the british site, and were I find most of the good vintage clothes!

Quote of the day

It seems I have a weakness I didn't know about, till the day it rained& it seems my weakness has been bulging, has been forcing its way
Thomas Dybdahl

Annual treasure hunt

I'd love to wear this dress, but sadly it's too small...

Pretty sure they never finished this one...

Im pretty sure that jacket was my uncles. It's still hilarious:P Almost so ugly it's cool!

This dress is so short that its too short to be worn, even with model legs and tights!
I like the fabric and the pattern, but the neck is just screaming "grandma", with a little rounder and lower neck it would be a nicer summer dress.

I love houses filled with old stuff. Everytime I discover something new, even though I've been there a thousand times. My grandparents are quite organized, but they hate to throw stuff away so they put it all up in the attic. With three daughters that loved to make clothes they've got a lot of hidden treasures up there. Many who I've found, many who are yet to be discovered.
Anyway, I'm going up there this week to see if I find some new stuff. With two aunts and a mum that were practically size zero its not likely I'll find anything that fits me very well. But there's a lot of fantastic fabric and also inspiration to be found!
I'm gonna post some of the stuff I found last year. I haven't really used any of the stuff in the pictures, but I have some other stuff I found that actually fits me in my closet in England:D

Good lyrics from Thomas Dybdahl

"John Wayne"
don't dream what others do, don't tell me you're in dreaming too cause shit aint always how you planned it, how you planned to break on trough that aint you
life takes a different turn, it may feel like your average crash & burn cause shit aint always how you planned it, how you planned to break on trough and it aint always how you'd live your life if you could live your life again
in time you'll find someone a way to better yourself, a plan to break on through and in time you'll find someone to guide you through, a guidance that'll do
the man says it's gonna be all right cause day by day it gets better (in time) yes it's gonna be all right cause day by day it gets better (in time) day by day leave your worries behind take the word of someone loving you
It's all in place don't dream what others do, don't tell me you're in dreaming too cause shit aint always how you planned it, how you planned to break on trough that aint you
in time you'll find someone a way to better yourself, a plan to break on through and in time you'll find someone to guide you through, a guidance that'll do and you'll find it's exactly how you'd live your life if you could live your life again cause you found a friend

A weekend off from eternal boredom

I went to Trondheim this weekend to visit some of my very best friends! I dunno why I ever thought it was a boring place, maybe because everyone from my town moves there for uni?! Anyway, it always surprises me how nice it actually is to be there. I like the people and the city in itself.
